Valerie Breaux Haaf is a studio artist and instructor at the Banana Factory, Bethlehem, PA, since 1998. She first studied Painting at Philadelphia College of Art (University of the Arts), and then in 1974, Valerie studied in Scotland participating in a performance piece for the Fringe Festival during the Edinburgh International Festival of the Arts. Later that year, after transferring to Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, she graduated with a BFA in Painting.
In 2005, Valerie accepted a residency in Schwäbisch-Gmümd, Germany. During her residency she had a solo exhibition and taught mixed media in the local schools. Valerie has shown in many regional exhibitions and has earned merit and purchase awards.
During her time at Banana Factory, Valerie has taught mixed media, sculpture, and jewelry. This included the B-Smart After School Enrichment Program, an after school program for inner city at-risk middle schoolers, and the Holy Infancy School's Art Program (grades pre-k through eight grade), also children's Summer Camps, and adult tuition classes and workshops. |
